Ixtapa Shopping
There
is a great variety of options to shop and browse, both
in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. Be aware that most stores
close during lunch and siesta time. The usual opening
hours are 9 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm, Mondays to
Saturdays. During high summer and winter season, some
businesses extend their normal hours and even open on
Sundays.
The
State of Guerrero is known for its varied handicraft
traditions, in particular the colorful ceramic sets,
fish carved in hard wood, ceremonial masks made of wood
or clay, paintings on tree bark, carved and hand decorated
boxes and the famous hammocks, which you will find in
the many stores of our town.
Enjoy
a relaxing walk in downtown Zihuatanejo, and explore
the many small and medium size clothing stores, boutiques,
jewelry and silver stores, handicrafts and souvenirs
so that you can shop or just browse. Make sure you ask
and take advantage of their tempting offers, discounts
and sales.
Ixtapa
has a wide boulevard flanked by several shopping centers
that are also full of interesting and attractive clothing
stores, silver stores, etc, where you can buy clothing
and items from famous domestic and international brands
to the most typically Mexican items.
There
are big handicraft tourist markets in both destinations,
with over 200 stands in Zihuatanejo and 80
in Ixtapa. These markets offer a huge variety of items,
so it is worth visiting them to buy souvenirs and presents.
The Zihuatanejo market is on Av. 5 de Mayo (close to the
main pier) and the Ixtapa one is on the Boulevar.
