The
Elements Spa consists of three separate
buildings, totaling 10,272 square feet and 20
treatment rooms. Open-air treatments are given
by request on the roof of any one of the spa buildings.
Massages are also given on the beach, in the gardens,
and by the koi pond.
The spa specializes in Ayurvedic (Indian) and
Mayan therapies. Elements, the spa's five-hour
signature treatment, begins with 80 minutes of
shirodhara, an Ayurvedic treatment in which a
thin stream of warm sesame oil falls gently on
the center of the forehead. The treatment continues
with an 80-minute body wrap (chamomile, algae
and herb, or mescal, lime, and lemon). A facial
and a pedicure conclude the treatment. Among the
Mayan therapies is the Mayan traveler massage,
done to clay flute music and concluding with the
placement of quartz crystals on two of the body's
chakra points. The spa also offers Swedish, Thai,
deep tissue, and hot stone massages. Day clients
are welcome, as are teens over 14.
The Disciplines Building is the venue for classes
(and private instruction) in yoga, Pilates, tai
chi, tae kwon do, aikido, salsa, and merengue.
Yoga classes are held daily at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.,
Monday through Friday. Floor Pilates is available
on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; private
lessons in Pilates Reformer can be scheduled at
an extra charge. Salsa and merengue classes are
also available at 1 p.m. four days a week. Tai
chi, tae kwon do, and aikido lessons are by-request
and are free.
Spa appointments are made at the main office in
the Beauty Salon Building, a 2,187-square-foot
facility offering hair, makeup, and nail services. |
