Handicrafts
In the state of Guerrero, where Acapulco is located, handicrafts are a creative expression that combines indigenous wisdom, the fortitude of the Spanish conquerors and the rhythm and colors of the natives. Their handicraft characteristics are recognized and appreciated abroad and the state is proud of them. The most famous item is silver from Taxco , the place for the biggest silver mines on earth. Their figures are sold worldwide and their craftsmen make beautiful pieces. The most famous ones include lacquer from Olinala, famous worldwide for their pieces that include special textures, landscapes and scents in gourds, trunks, jewelry cases, trunks, screens, boxes, etc., made with the aromatic linaloe tree.

A very typical item is the dolls and miniatures artfully made of corn leaves from Chilapa, as well as the weavings from the Amuzgo Indians, the drawings on amate paper (handmade bark paper) and the ceramics from Xalitla. In Acapulco, you can find these handicrafts in the local markets or the handicraft stores along the Costera, but it is better to buy them in the Casas de las Artesanías, one of them located on the first floor of the International Convention Center , a few steps from the Oceanic 2000 building.
